Conductor Search
The Brandon Community Orchestra is
seeking a conductor/music director for the 2022/23 season. The
application deadline is July 31, 2022.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor of
Music, experience conducting, and experience working with groups
of varying ages. Additional desired qualifications include a broad
knowledge of orchestral repertoire to select music appropriate to
the BCO and our audience, ability to work collaboratively with a
non-profit board, and effective communication skills in writing
and speaking.
The duties of the conductor include:
• Coordinating rehearsal and performance dates
between September and May
• Attending BCO executive committee meetings for
orchestra planning
• Selecting music in collaboration with the
music selection committee
• Conducting weekly rehearsals to prepare music
for performances
• Working out instrumentation and part rotation
where needed in the orchestra
• Collaborating with the librarian for part
distribution
The position starts in September, with the first rehearsal
scheduled for Sept. 10, 2022.
Compensation includes an honorarium and expenses. The position
will be awarded as a term for 2022/23 with the possibility of
renewal for future seasons.
